On our last day in Bhutan we will hike up to fabled Tigers Nest Monastery, with permits to visit the monastery itself rather than just going to a nearby overlook as many tours do. Outline Itinerary

  • Day 01: Arrive at Paro airport and transfer to Hotel.
    On arrive at Paro Airport a Global Holidays Adventure representative will receive you and directly taken to Thimpu an one hour driving, The capital City of Bhutan. At day time relax and visit local market around Thimpu.
  • Day 02: Full day Thimpu Sightseeing. O/n at Hotel.
    Today you will be starting you tour with Tashischo Dzong a beautifil medieval fortress/monastery housing most of the government offices and the King's throne room. This is also the chief Abbot of the Buddhist Kingdom of Bhutan. We will continue our Bhutan tour by then visiting Zorig Chusum the school of 13 traditional arts and crafts, here you will also be able to see pupil at work learning their traditional craft. National Library: this facility holds an extensive collection of Buddhist text and manuscripts dating back many a centuries as well as some modern literature, institute of Tibetology, the National Memorial Chorten, the handicraft emporium.
  • Day 03: Drive to Punakha from Thimpu. O/n at guesthouse.
    Today your destination is Punakha by driving. En route we will have a short coffee break at Dochula Pass (3150m). Punakha Dzong (fortress) this beautiful fortress was completed in the 17th century, we will also visit the local market. Then visit Khamsum Yulley Namgyel Chorten, these stupas were constructed recently. After that we will drive to Wandue Phodrang Dzong and the local market. The district of Wandue Phodrang is also known for its bamboo products, stone and slate carvings, which can be purchased in the local market.
  • Day 04: Punakha to Gangtey. O/n at guesthouse.
    Today first we visit the Gangtey Gompa Monastery, this Monastery was established in 1631. The monastery is one of the main seats of the religious tradition based on Pema Lingpa's revelations and also one of the main of two main centers of Nyingmapa school of Buddhism in Bhutan. Today we will go on a small trail termed as Gangtey Natural Trail, this is the most beautiful and a short trail requiring no more than 2 hours to complete the trail starts from monastery itself and ends to the south at the Chhu Nap (Black River) near Khewang village. If one feel like the trail can be extended for another hour or two beyond the village and on the trail one can see black necked crane, skylarks, temples and will have a bird eye view of the village below. We will stay the night at Gangtey.
  • Day 05: Gangtey to Paro. O/n at Hotel.
    Today at morning you will be taken Gangtey to Paro, on the way we will be visiting Simtokha Dzong one of the oldest fortress in the Kingdom of Bhutan completed in 1627. It is now converted into a school for religious studies. Later in the day post lunch we will be visiting Ta Dzong in Paro, this was originally built as a watchtower to guard against the invading Tibetan intruders, since 1967 it has served as the National Museum, it holds a fascinating collection of various traditional artifacts, thankgkha paintings, postage stamps, etc.
  • Day 06: Visit Taktshang Monastery 'the tigers nest'. O/n at Hotel
    Paro Taktshang Monastery 'the tigers nest'. It has been listed amongst the top 10 temples, shrines and places of worship in Asia, in the 'divine list'. Built 900 meters above the valley floor on a flat rock face, this is the most famous and revered monastery in the Kingdom of Bhutan, every Bhutanese is required to visit this monastery at least once in their lifetime. Kyichu Lhakhang: one of the oldest temple in Bhutan and is believed to have been visited by Guru Rinpoche, who was later instrumental in establishing the Taktsang Monastery.

Q. What type of shape do I need to be in, is this trip for me?
A. This trip is suitable for any kind of people from child to Old people. Not any pre- experience is necessary.

Q. Will somebody come to pick me up at the Airport upon my arrival?
A. Yes, our Airport Representative will be there to greet you outside of Terminal Hall, he/she will be displaying an Global Holidays Adventure sign with your name on it. Upon arrival, you will be transferred to your hotel.

 

Q. What sort of accommodation can I expect in this tour?
A. Here are so many different catagories hotel. Its up your demand. In our package ,We provide two or three star hotel accommodation for entire trip. The hotels have all the facilities of 24 hours hot and cold-water, attached bathrooms, dining rooms, bar, internet facilities, etc.

Q. What sort of food can I expect in the tour?
A. All the restaurants that we dine at cater for Continental, Chinese, Mexican, American based cuisine with some local influences, always plenty to choose from.

Q. What sort of transportation you use?
A. Depending on the group size we use Private cars, minibus, van, land cruiser. These small light vehicles are more maneuverable and flexible enabling us to take you.

Q. What is the best season for this trip?
A. Any time between Octobers to Sep.

Q. What is the weather & temperature like?
A. It is all depending on what time of year you are traveling; during winter (Mid December to February), it gets colder at night and warmer during the day. The temperature could be as high as 22 deg C during day and 4 deg C low early in the morning and at night.

From March to May it is warm and sometimes a bit hot and weather stay perfect. The average temperature during this time of year is 25 deg C.

During the months of September to early December it is always warmer providing the perfect time to travel. The average temperature during this time of year is 20 deg C.

You will be in air-conditioned vehicles during the tour and all hotels are fully air conditioned.

Q. Can I charge my digital camera or other batteries on my trip?
A. Yes, of course but remember to bring your adapters!

Q. Is there any communication while we are on tour?
A. There are telephones and internet facilities available so you can always stay in contract with your family.

Q. Can I use credit cards and ATM in the places visit?
A. ATM are available in Kathmandu and Pokhara, major credit cards are accepted in all places but you need to pay 4% extra as bank levy so cash is always recommend.

Q. How much additional money do I need per day?
A. It all depends on your spending habits for Lunch, Dinner, Drink and Bar Expenses.

Q. Do I need to tip my guide and driver? How much would that be?
A. Tips are always expected, it is good to tip your tour staff at the end of tour.

Q. Is the water OK to drink? Do I need to bring purifying tablets/filter?
A. Bottled water is available in all the places.Bottled water is safe for drinking. You don't need to carry any purifying tablets.

Q. What essential documents do I need to bring with me on tour?
A. *Valid Passport – must be valid for up to 6 months after you return from your tour, keep a separate photocopy.

Q. Can I add extra days to my trip?
A. A holiday should never be about making it to the final point quickly. Along your tour we can add days at your request with additional costs to cover guides, Hotel and Transportation.

Q. What immunizations will I need?
A. No vaccinations are compulsory in Himalaya, but we do recommend you are covered for *diphtheria & TB, hepatitis A, *hepatitis B, *malaria, typhoid, polio and tetanus.

We also recommend:

  • A dental check-up prior to travelling.
  • That you know your blood group in case of emergency.

That if you have any pre-existing medical conditions which might affect you on tour, you make these known to your tour leader and Ace the Himalaya at the time of your booking.
