Dhaulagiri Region Trekking

Dhaulagiri region, seperated from the Annapurna region to the west and strecting about 50 km over the Kali Gandaki river and the Kaligandaki Gorge, the deepest gorge in the world, includes more than 15 trekking peaks above 7,000m with giant mountain Dhaulagiri(8,167m). Dhaulagiri I is challenging climbing peak and known as one of the difficult climbing peak. It is the sixth highest peak of Nepal. Finally in 1960, a Swiss party succeeded in reaching its summit for the first time. Other main peaks of this area are Dhaulagiri II, Dhaulagiri III, Churen Himal(7321m), Putha Himal(7246m), Gurja Himal(7193m) etc. Dhaulagiri region, considered to be one of the most remote places of the Kingdom of Nepal, has abundance of Himalayan peaks, hidden valleys, high passes and sweeping vistas. The Himalayan journey in this area is quite, peaceful and full of adventure and exitment but it is also relatively strenuous similarly others.

Geographically Dhaulagiri region is a land of dramatic contrast. Trekking off the main path is not only possible, but it can be immensely rewarding through you need a sense of adventure and it increases ability to deal with the unexpected. Dhaulagiri region is a new place for trekkers. It towers high above the well-trekked Muktinath pilgrim trail up to the Kaligandaki valley. The vast massif screens the hidden land of Dolpo to its north west. Following river up stream, ferns and forest of oak and other deciduous trees and juniper are interesting.
