Ghorepani Poon Hill trek is quite an easy adventure. It is short a best trekking destination in Annapurna trekking for all kind of trekkers from normal to top. It starts and ends in Pokhara, a colorful foray into the Annapurna region. The trail winds through patchwork valleys, dense mossy forests and many angelic waterfalls where you can stop to cool off. Around every corner is a tantalizing glimpse of the high mountains, whole horizons of which will be revealed to you as you reach the high points of your trek.

One of the important highlight of this trip is to make a climb on Poon Hill. When the sun rises, it touches the snow-capped summits the Himalayan giants, Dhaulagiri (8167m) and Annapuran (8091m) along with a maze of other peaks, there gradually appear, just like magic that your mind could never imagine.

  • Day 01 : Kathmandu (1300 m) – Hotel,BB.
  • Day 02 : Kathmandu Sight seeing. Trekking Preperation, BB.

  • Day 01: Arrival in Kathmandu and transfer to Hotel[1,300m]
    On your arrival in Kathmandu International please look our airport representative together with Global Holidays Adventure Show board with your Name written on it. Then you will be transfer to Kathmandu Hotel and the Ghorepani trekking briefing will be given at evening together with your trek Guide. Stay overnight at Kathmandu.
  • Day 02: Kathmandu Sight Seeing.
    After breakfast you will have 2/3 hours sight seeing around Kathmandu Valley( Buddhanath, Pashupatinath, Patan Durbar Square and Swambhnath Stupa) with professional tour guide then after evening you will have meeting with Global Holidays Adventure’s Trekking guide who will support you for trekking preparation.
  • Day 03: Drive to Pokhara from Kathmandu
    Pokhara is located about 200 km west from Kathmandu and the tourist coach takes about 7 hours to get there. Tourist bus leaves at 7:00 am from Kantipath (Kathmanu) to Pokhara. The drive mostly fallows along Trishuli River side enjoying the view of landscapes. At the Evening you may take short sightseeing around Pokhara city. The Ghorepani Poon Hill trek starts from Pokhara. Stay overnight.
  • Day 04: Pokhara to Tikhedhunga (1491m)Ulleri (1980m).
    After breakfast in Pokhara at 7:30 drive to Nayapul where walking starts from. The drive takes 1:5 hours to Nayapul(42km) by car.Then trails leads up through the beautiful rice, maze and millet farms of locals. Fallowing the main trail of Birethanti passed small waterfall. The trail reaches Sudami where you have Lunch. After lunch climb steadily side of valley you reach at Hile and after half an hour you reach at Tikhedhunga for over night stay or you will walk futher until Ulleri for that you need to climbs 3000 stones steps from Tikadhunga .
  • Day 05: Tikhedhunga - Ghorepani (2800m.)
    In the morning breakfast will be served at hotel at 7:00am to be prepared for Ulleri (2070m) climb. The trail goes steep up for 1.5 hours through stone steps where the trail leads through cultivated fields Rest of trails goes through inside blooming rhododendron and Oak forest. Final climb to Nangethanti which will be your lunch spot in Nangethanti. Thanti is a Nepali words meaning "rest house" "Dharmasala". In the winter the trail can be covered with snow. After luch trek rests for about an hour. Then climb to Ghorepani at 2850m. Arrive at the top of the Ghorepani pass and camp there. O/N in Ghorepani.
  • Day 06: Ghorepani - Poon hill - Tadapani (2540 m.)
    The most importand day of your trek early morning wake up and start your journey climb to Poon Hill (3210m) around 1 hr. to provides best majestic scenery and sunrise over the high mountains. Lot of white mountain can be seen from poon like Dhaulagiri [8167m], Annapurna South [7119m] Fishtail [6993m], Nilglgiri south, Singa chuli , Annapurna I [8091m] and many more peaks. You then come down to Ghorepani to have breakfast and trek to Tadapani for 6 hours. Trek leads mainly up and down hill through the forest. Stay overnight at Tadapani.
  • Day 07: Tadapani to Ghandrung (1940 m.)
    Right after breakfast at hotel your journey leads to Ghandruk which takes about 4 hours. The most cultural village the home of Gurung people. The trail mainly through forest and goes gentle down. Evening explore the Gurung museum to know about their traditional cloths and useful equipment. Stay over night at Ghandruk.
  • Day 08: Ghandruk to Pokhara,
    Treks down to Nayapul through the cultivated fields in Modi khola valley. (4 hrs) and drive to Pokhara (1 hrs). End of the trek
  • Day 09 : Drive back to Kathmandu .
  • Day 10: Final Departure transfer to airport.

What type of shape do I need for this Trip?
Ghorepani Poonhill Trek is a suitable trek for all kind of people who are moderately fit, not any previous adventures experience is required. Some physical fitness programs such as running, swimming and walking are recommended before your Ghorepani Trekking. Persons suffering from a pre-existing medical condition must seek medical advice/consent before considering the trek. Whist on the trek, it is common to experience some discomfort before being fully acclimatized.

Will somebody come to pick up me at the Airport upon my arrival?
Yes, Global Holidays Adventure representative will be there to greet you outside of Terminal Hall. He will be displaying an Global Holidays Adventure name with your name on it. Upon arrival, you will be transferred to your Hotel.

Visa info: Entry Visa fees- at present $ 25 for 15 day, $ 40 for 30 days and $ 100 for three month visa on entry to Nepal. You can take visa after landing Nepal in Tribhuwan International Airport.

What sort of accommodation can i expect in Kathmandu and in Trekking?
In Kathmandu: Here are all kind of Hotel simple hotel to 5* hotel. Its depends on your demand but normally in our trekking package we use standard rooms from 3* or 4* on BB Basis.

During Trekking: You will have teahouse/Lodges generally provide basic clean facilities with a mattress and a quit blanket. We can also offer you Global Holidays Adventure's sleeping baggage if needed ( which need to return after the trip) but it is good idea to have your own sleeping baggage always. We usually provide you single and double rooms as well as the occasional dormitory. The dining room is sownstairs around a fire. All food will be cooked to order in the little kitchen. You should not enter the kitchen unless asked to do so.

Toilet Facilities During Trekking: On, Trek common toilet facilities are available at Tea House. Now some teahouse have attached bathroom.

Shower Facilities: You will have hot shower in all teahouses but some place there isnot hot shower, we will provide you hot water in bucket for Shower.

Do you use porters/ yaks on the trek or do we carry all of our own gear?
Whilst on the trek, our porter will take care of your luggage. All you need to carry is your small day bag for your personal belongings like camera, water bottle, sun cream etc only.

What kind of food can i expect in Trekking?
Most of Teahouse cook a delicious range of mostly vegetarian fare Pasta, Tuna Bakes, Noodles, Potatos, Eggs, Dalbhat, Bread, Soups, Fresh Vegetable ( variety depends on the season) and even some desserts like Apple Pies, Pancakes and some interesting attempts at Custard. You will find a lot of garlic items on the menu, eat some every day because it assists with acclimatization. In many larger villages you may find some meat on the menu. You cal always get hot chocolate, tea, coffee, hot lemon as well as soft drinks. Each day dinner and breakfast are used to take in the same lodge you spend the night. Lunch will be take on the way to distination.

What sort of transportation I use?
Global Holidays Adventure is all about providing you with local insights as well as adventure with that in mind where we think you will get more our of your holiday by using a different means of transport that is what we do. Using a variety of private transport is an integral part of our Himalayas travel and enhance the experience. We use private tourist vehicles for sightseeing, city tours and pick ups. Depending on the group size we use cars, minibus, van or Landcruiser. These small light vehicles are more manoeuvrable and flexible enabling us to take you through the narrow roads of Nepal. All the vehicles are usually air-conditioned unless we are travelling in cooler areas.

What is the best season for this trekking?
The best season for this trek is October to mid December and mid February to mid June. It is not very good trekking during the monsoon season from June to August excepts treks in the Himalayan rain shadow like Upper Mustang and Mt. Kailash.

What is the weather and temperature like in trekking?
Weather in the mountains is notoriously difficult to predict. At night it is generally cooler the days are enerally warm. Winter ( January and February ) will be bit colder but the days can be quite beautiful and warm if the sun is out. There will be bit of snow during the month of January, February and December. It is also important to makes sure that you can stay warm and dry in just about any condition. Expert the unexpected! The temperature could be as high as 20 degree c to 15 degree c low during day time.

Can I charge my camera batterries on my Trip?
These facilities will be available in most of the places in your Hotel reception by playing some service. Remember to bring your adapters!!.

Is there any communication while we are on Trekking?
There are telephone in some villages along the trekking routes from which you can make international calls, Some place there is also interest access which you can use by paying some charges.

Can I use credit cards in the places visit in Trekking?
In Kathmandu you can use your credit/ master card. During the trekking you need cash, you can't use your credit card.

How much additional money do I need per day?
In Kathmandu, you can allocate $ 10-15 for lunch and dinner. It's all depends on your spending habits. $. 15- 20 a day will be enough to buy bottles of water, chocolate and few drinks in Trekking.

Do I need to tip my guide and porters? How much would that be?
This is a difficult things to tell. It's up to you from your heart by looking their work and support. Tipping is not required, but a small way to show your guides and local porters thanks for their help. The level of the tip should reflect the level of personal involvement with your guide.

Is the water Ok to drink? Do I need to bring purifying tablets/filter?
In most places bottled water is readily available. If you wish to drink normal water, you need to use purifying aid, which you will need to bring with you.

Is Global Holidays Adventure's staff insured?
Our Company insures all our trekking staff, including guide, cook, Sherpa and Porters.

What essential documents do I need to bring with me on tour?
  • Valid Passport- must be valid for up to 6 months after return from your tour, keep a seperate photocopy.
  • Travel insurance, keep a seperate photocopy which you need to give to us before you leaving for trip.
  • Cash and Traveller's Cheques, keep numbers and proof of purchase seperate.
  • Flight Tickets.
  • Emergency contact numbers for T/C's bank, insurance, family contacts.
Can I add extra days to my Trekking Trip?
A trekking holiday should be about making it to the final point quickly. Along your trek we can add days at your request with additional costs to cover guides, porters, accommodation and food.

I would like to extend my holiday, any recommendations?
Yes there are many options and choices to extend your holiday before or after your main trip. Following trips are suggested for your holiday extensions.
What immunizations will I need?
No vaccinations are compulsory in Himalaya but we do recommend you are coveres for * Diphtheria & TB, *Hepatitis A, Hepatitis B * Malaria, * Typhoid, Polio and tetanus. We also recommend-

  • A dental Check up prior to Travelling.
  • That you know your blood group in case of Emergency.
