Teej Festival in Nepal

"Teej" is the fasting festival for women. It is celebrated in many states of india and Nepal. The festival is three-day long celebration that combines sumptuous feasts as well rigid fasting. Through this religious fasting, hindu women pray for marital bliss, Well being their spouse and children and purification of their own body and soul. It is also said that women do 24-hrs feasting (without water or fruit) for the willingness of their spouse and their married life and unmarried would be praying to get a nice husband.

"Teej" falls on the third day after the moonless night. The First day of "Teej" is called Dar khane Din. On this day women, married and unmarried, they eat Dhar (Food) at Midnight and they start feast for next day.

The second day is The feasting day. Some women live with out a morsel of food and drops of water. On this day they visit God Shiva's Temple and starting to pray by

singing and dancing.

The Third day of the festival is Rishi Panchami. After the completion of previous Puja. In this day women bathe with red mud found on the root of the sacred bush, along with its leaves. This act of purification is the final ritual of "Teej". In this year on 08 Sep 2013 Teej is going to celebrate.
