Ride a 450 CC Royal Enfield Himalayan bike and ride through the dusty, barren, treeless landscapes of the Tibetan Plateau, small settlements of people resembling the culture and lifestyle of ancient Tibet. It may sound uncomfortable, riding on off roads but its pure adventure that will be etched in your memory forever.
Our ride kickoffs from Kathmandu to the beautiful city of Pokhara, and goes through the winding roads following the Annapurna circuit route. Once you reach Beni (82 km from Pokhara), the off-road starts. We will follow the Kaligandaki River along the ancient salt trading route between Nepal and Tibet onto Muktinath Temple. Riding along the Kaligandaki George, the world’s deepest is one of a kind of experience in itself. The pristine lifestyle of the indigenous Buddhist community, historic monasteries and ancient caves make you feel you are in Tibet.
We follow the same trail that we take in reaching Lo Manthang. Taking a day off in Pokhara to roam around the Lakes and caves, or trying an adventure such as Paragliding/Zip flyer/Bungee is good option. Pubs in lakeside Pokhara are fine places to hangout your evening and cling your beers with some fresh live music.
New Updates 2026 for Upper Mustang Permits:-
Riding to the Upper Mustang area requires a special permit. The permit costs USD 50 for single days, and can be issued for the required number of days. Before it was mandatory minimum days was 10 days, however now can be issued for the number of days required. Either its 1 or 5 days it can be issued. It’s important to note that this is number of days, not nights, with the permit period starting in Kagbeni and ending in Kagbeni.
The exact area of the Upper Mustang is a restricted zone, foreigners weren't allowed to enter until after 1992. There is still a restriction without a permit. Certain areas of Mustang are subject to ACAP, so a permit from the Annapurna Conservation Area Project (ACAP) is also required. Now restricted area permit, can obtain for Individuals.
Best season for the tour
March - May: Excellent for riding
Spring brings generally dry weather, comfortable daytime temperatures, and good visibility. The landscape begins to look more colorful with bright blue skys, while the mountain roads are usually suitable and stable for motorcycle travel. April and May are particularly good choices.
June to August: Monsoon
Interestingly upper mustang, located at rain shadow of Annapurna and Dhaulagiri range, the upper region stays dry, while its raining in lower region. Riding is suitable during monsoon however, reaching Upper Mustang requires traveling through lower areas such as Pokhara, Beni and the Kali Gandaki corridor, where monsoon rain can cause muddy roads, landslides and delays.
September - November: The best overall season
This is the best time for an Upper Mustang Motorcycle Tour. After the monsoon, the skies are generally clear, mountain views are spectacular, and the roads tend to be dry. October and November are especially popular for riders who want the best combination of scenery and road conditions.
December - February: Possible, but challenging
Winter brings cold temperatures, particularly around Lo Manthang and higher passes. Constant falling snow and freezing conditions can affect some sections. While accommodation options will be limited and water inside bathrooms will also be limited. This season is better for experienced riders looking for a more demanding adventure.

Bike Ride to Pokhara (Elevation 822 m.) - 200 KM (6 / 7 hours)..

Driving along the prithivi high way you will follow the Trishuli river and after arrive at Pokhara visit lakeside at evaning.

Ride to Beni to Kalopani (Elevation 2600 M.) – 123 KM (5/6 hours).

Your adventure kicks off with a ride to Sarangkot hill, where you wetness to breathtaking mountain such as Dhaulagiri, Annapurna, Machhapurche and other surrounding peaks. You, will ride ahead to Beni via a smooth paved road, followed by Kali Gandaki river a thrilling mix of off-road and paved terrain leading to Kalopani. Along the way, you will take lunch break and explore the fascinating Rupche waterfall.

Bike ride from Kalopani to Muktinath (3800 M) to Kagbeni (2900 M.) - 63 KM (5/6 hours).

After breakfast at lodge, you will ride to Marpha Village, where you'll immerse yourself in the local farming and apple gardens. Your journey continue to Muktinath Temple via Jomsom, taking in the spectacular view of Nilgiri Mountain. At Muktinath, visit the revered temple, which stands at the elevation of 3,800 meters and holds significance for both Hindu and Buddhist pilgrims. You will explore the burning temple of Jal Devi, a natural gas-fueled fire that burns perpetually. Later, you will back to Kagbeni village and on the way explore the ancient Tibetan Buddhist monastery in Jharkot.

Permit formalities & ride to Lo- Manthang (3800 M.) - 45 KM (5/6 hours).

After breakfast at Kagbeni, your guide will check your special permits, and then you will start into the exploration of Kagbeni's monasteries and Buddhist school. From there, your journey leads you towards Lo-manthang, a charming adventure that includes crossing the Kali Gandaki River and passing through several fascinating villages and high passes such as Chuksang, Chella, Samar, Syangboche, Bhina, Ghiling, Ghami, and Tsrang Village, ultimately reaching Lo-manthang. Along the ride, you will stop your motorbike at various points to immerse in the breathtaking landscape of Upper Mustang and capture unforgettable beautiful photos and videos for your lifetime memories.

Exploration day in Lo-Manthang and ride around Chhosar.

Today, you will explore Lo-Manthang town and enjoy a ride around Chhosar. After breakfast at lodge we will visit three important monasteries in Lo-Manthang: Thupchen Monastery, Chode Gompa, and Jampa Monastery, along with a Buddhist Museum. Later, after a lunch, you will ride to the Chhoser caves, including the fascinating ancient SHIJA JHONG cave, which is over 3,000 years old and has attracted archaeologists worldwide. There are other caves surrounding to the village which are used for different purposes like meditation and living.
Chhoser and nearby villages still practice the ancient SKY BURIAL tradition. You will also explore the cliff monastery in chhoser and evening you will return to our lodge in Lo-manthang.
(Note: Foreigners are not allowed to reach till Korala border as per the new policy of Nepal Government. However, you can reach till Choser village which is approx. 8 Km from the border.)

Ride back to Jomsom (Elevation 2743 m.) – 55 Km (6 Hours ).

Today, you will ride back to Jomsom, which is about 55 kilometers and takes 6 hours. During the ride, you'll pass through local villages, follow the Kaligandaki River, and encounter ancient Buddhist stupas and monasteries along the way.
If you arrive in Jomsom early, you might even continue the journey to Kalopani for an overnight stay.

Ride back to Pokhara (Elevation 822 M.) – 158 KM (7 Hours).

About motorcycle, it is taken cared by Global Holidays adventure. We will have mechanics on board, if any issue occurs regarding to bike parts, it’s taken care of at the site itself.

We have both 450 CC Royal Enfield Himalayan and 500 CC Royal Enfield classic motorbike which are very powerful and comfortable for off road, paved road as well long drive. Please write us which bike is comfortable for you. We can also provide other brands of motorbikes if your require brands of motorbikes are available in Nepal. Now this year, we have added 25 Royal Enfield Himalayan 450 CC bikes for our adventure.

Group Size
Upper Mustang border with Tibet is a restricted area where tourists are required at least 2 riders to issue the permit. The more riders you have will make lower the tour price. We operate any private group of riders for this adventure.
What to bring with you ?

- It's a good idea to bring your own full set of motorcycle gear, including a helmet, boots, gloves, and a suit with protectors and a back protector.

What is the physical requirement for Upper Mustang Motorbike tour?
Upper Mustang Motorbike tour is designed for those adventure lovers who are physically fit and have good skill for Motorbike riding. The road condition is mixed of both on and off road. Seasoned riders with strong will to visit the place can complete this tour easitly.
Do I need driving license to ride in Nepal?
Of Course, without a license you are not a real rider. Before arrive in Nepal we Need your possport copy and license copy then we will make local permits for your riding. Which allow you to drive in Upper Mustang.
Do I need any previous experience for Upper Mustang Motorbike tour?
You don’t need any experiences of Himalayan ride but make sure that you are a discipline motorbike rider and can drive for a long hours in Himalayan road.
Is there any supporting Van/Truck during the Trip?
Yes, we provide one private supporting Van/ Truck during your motorbike tour in Mustang. Your all luggage and spare parts of motorbike will carry by our supporting van.
What about guide and crews?
1 Road captain (for above 10 riders) and 1 expereince mechanic will be provided during the whole trip. Also there will be an experienced English speaking guide for sightseeing of places and monasteries.
Incase of small group (less than 10 riders) road captain will be provided on request.
What is the best season for motorbike tour in Mustang?
Mustang climate is favorable to travel from March to November. June July is mostly raining season in Nepal but Mustang never get raining because this is the rain shadow part of Annapurna and Dhaulagiri Himalayan region.
December, January and February is winter season where Mustang gets snowfall and temperature is very low.
However except for december and january all months are suitable for Motorcycle tour in Upper Mustang.
Should we apply for the visa from our home country or will get it in Nepalese Airport? What essential documents should I bring with me?
You can get the visa at Tribhuwan International Airport after landing, furthermore it will be easier if you fill up the visa form by online(https://online.nepalimmigration.gov.np/tourist-visa) before taking the flight to Nepal. Entry Visa fees- at present is $ 30 for 15 day, $ 50 for 30 days and $ 125 for 90 days visa on entry to Nepal.

Definitely! Global Holidays Adventure Pvt. Ltd provides airport pick up facilities for those customers who have booked private tour for any of our packages. We don't charge any money for the service.
What sort of accommodation can I expect in Kathmandu and during the trip?
All types of Hotels from a budget to Luxurious including five star services are available in Kathmandu. Normally, Global Holidays Adventure offers 3* hotel services in our outline itinerary. We can also accommodate according to your choice.
During the trip: We will provide you best of available accommodation with attach bathroom which have hot showers in it. Basically is a tea house with modern amenities, clean beds, clean & hygenic dinning rooms and warm foods.
Luxury accommodation: Now a days Upper Mustang offers luxury lodges in places like Tatopani, Kalopani, Jomsom, Muktinath, Ghami, Tsrang and Lomanthang. They offer heated beds, cozy stay, premium rooms and foods of your choice. If you want premium services, let us know before your departure so we could manage accordingly.
How is the shower facilities during in Mustang?
Normally, we provide room with attach baths. incase your bathroom lacks the hot water/ shower we will provide you a bucket full of what water to accommodate your need.
What kind of foods can I expect during the trip?
Most of mountain lodges cook a delicious range of mostly vegetarian, fresh Pasta, Tuna Bakes, Noodles, Potatoes, Eggs, Dal-bhat, Bread, Soups, Fresh Vegetable ( variety depends on the season) and even some desserts like Apple Pies, Pancakes and some interesting attempts at Custard. You will find a lot of garlic items on the menu, eat some every day because it assists with acclimatization. In many larger villages you may find some meat on the menu. You can always get hot chocolate, tea, coffee, hot lemon as well as soft drinks. Each day dinner and breakfast are used to take in the same lodge you spend the night. Lunch will be taken on the way to destination.
What is the likely temperature and weather during in Mustang?
Weather in the mountains is notoriously difficult to predict. Generally, nights are chillingly cold, whereas, the days are warmer. Winter (December -January -February) will be a bit colder but the days can be quite beautiful and warm if the sun is out. There will be a bit of snow during the month of January, February and December. The temperature inside the teahouses/lodges are fairly maintained. You can always sit beside a fire/heater to keep yourself warmer. The temperature could be as high as 20 degree c to 15 degree c low during the day time.
Is there internet access in Mustang?
Yes, most of the places we stay have WiFi which you can use it for free. While traveling on road you can use mobile date which work perfectly in all the places.
Can I use ATM and credit cards during the trip?
ATM and credit card facilities can be used in Kathmandu, Pokhara and Jomsom. Above that, you need cash payments for various service you need.
How much additional money do I need per day?
In Kathmandu, you can allocate $ 10-15 for lunch and dinner. It all depends on your spending habits. $. 15- 20 a day will be enough to buy chocolate and few drinks during in bike tour.
How is the drinking water facility during tour ?
We provide you bottle water for your entire trip which will be carried by our support vehicle. You can have a access any time you want.
What happens in case of emergencies ?
Basically the emergencies that we may face is Altitude sickness. Incase of that we have bottel of oxyzen on our support vehicle which you can use plus we will descend you down the elevation as soon as possible. In worse case of altitude sickness we will evacuate you on helicopter to the nearest city / hospital.
Similarly if some mishap or some mistake related to traffic safety we will take care of it and take your to the nearest hospital or evacuate you on helicopter.
Why is the travel insurance compulsory?
In case of any casualties, travel insurance will be a boon to recover the incurred expenses. In case of helicopter rescue, the helicopter charge, which is little expensive, can also be recovered by your insurance. So it a good act to check you insurance validity and policy, whether it recovers the rescue charges or not.

Fantastic motorcycle tour !
I had a relatively small time window to organise my trip and Samsher was very accommodating in arranging a custom tour to suit. His advice and communication was very good. Value was impressive, with a private trip of comparable cost to group tours offered by competitiors. Samsher personally met me at the airport and looked after me while I was in Kathmandu. My dates coincided with the Monsoon in Nepal. Fortunately, the Upper Mustang region is in a relatively dry, rain shadow area and is mostly unaffected by the monsoon. Although there was a bit of rain (as expected) in the lower valley, I found this a pleasant time to travel, with fewer tourists, impressive waterfalls and raging rivers. The Upper Mustang was an amazing area to visit, especially in the company of Sachin (guide), Hari (driver of support 4wd), and Resham (mechanic). These guys were very friendly and helpful, and their knowledge of, and passion for their country and culture made the trip a great experience. The well maintained Royal Enfield Himalayan motorcycle provided, was an excellent way to travel on the mountain roads. Accomodation and food were both good, exceeding my expectations. The trip was well planned from the point of view of acclimatising to altitude, and I had no problems on this front. Overall, I found Global Holidays adventure to be a very professional, ethical and trustworthy business and I give them my highest recommendation.
